How To Grow Your Business Faster With A DIY Audit
Do you ever think “I wish I could just get someone else to do some of these tasks” when you look at your to-do list?
The problem with running your own business is that you typically end up doing EVERYTHING. Especially when you’re just starting out and don’t have the profit margin to outsource and hire help.
For a while this can be ok, but over time you can start to feel frustrated, overwhelmed and just plain exhausted when you’re constantly doing tasks that you don’t like or that don’t play to your strengths. For this reason I’ve always found it important to ensure that there’s a balance in my business and that the percentage of things I enjoy outweighs the percentage of things I don’t enjoy.
We all know that when you’re doing what you love it’s easier to feel motivated, creative and productive and you’re less likely to feel overwhelmed and get burnt out. This is where a Business Joy Audit comes in.
What on earth is a Business Joy Audit, you ask?
A business joy audit is a simple system I developed when pivoting my business and trying to reignite a little joy in my work. It combines taking a strategic look at what is and isn’t working as well as looking at what you enjoy and don’t enjoy in your business.
I believe the joy criteria is an important addition to a regular systems analysis for entrepreneurs because joy is a catalyst for creativity, inspiration, productivity and motivation. When you love what you do content creation flows more easily, visibility is more authentic and selling feels more natural.
A business joy audit allows you to identify ways that you can maximise time spent on things you enjoy and do well and look for ways to minimise, release, automate or outsource the things you’d rather not do.
This process will transform your business if you’re honest with yourself and take action on what you uncover because it gives you a really strong, sustainable and enjoyable foundation for your business.
So how does it work?
Basically, you look at everything in your business over the past 3 - 6 months and write down what is working, what isn’t working, what you enjoy doing and what you’d rather not do.
The next step is to actually use the information you uncovered...
As you know, to generate income you need a relationship path / sales funnel for your audience to move through.
Your job is to look at the information you uncovered in your joy audit and create the simplest, most efficient way to take your audience from not knowing who you are, to buying your products and services and becoming loyal customers.
The key is to incorporate as many of the tasks you enjoy as you can and only include tasks you don’t enjoy when absolutely necessary.
This helps you to create a really strong foundation for your business that will boost productivity and reduce overwhelm because it’s built on your strengths and likes.
Why not give it a go for yourself?!
